Do you have a growth mindset?
Difficult times can make it hard to look ahead, but exploring future possibilities might be a good way of seeing things in a positive light. At the moment we all have a golden opportunity to take stock of our careers and the path that lies ahead of us. We?re going through a paradigm shift in the way we perceive traditional careers and traditional work environments and now is the perfect time to jump the grind and take control of your future.
Over time I have identified certain principles, that I believe can guide you through your career. Firstly, knowing your why, or your reason for what you do can help shape your career success. Another principle is your personal brand, how you are perceived, viewed, and spoken about in the workplace influences your career. People who have impactful careers, tend to have a learning mindset seeing change as opportunities for growth even when it’s stressful or challenging. Finally, legacy builders are mindful of the opportunity and the responsibility to serve the advancement of others, through networking and mentoring.
We are all facing uncertainty and ambiguity in our lives, so there is no better time to strive for a growth mindset, rather than a fixed mindset, so you can see ambiguity as an opportunity for learning. People with
growth mindsets embrace challenges as opportunities to learn & use failures as a springboard to future success.
To succeed and create an extraordinary career, you must make decisions and take certain steps to continually develop and learn new skills. The people who are willing to try new things, consider new thoughts, and think outside of the proverbial box for the sake of personal and professional growth, will have the best chance of building the most successful career. The more comfortable we are, at being uncomfortable, the more chances we?ll take, the more often we?ll willingly enter this fear and learning zone and, the more we?ll grow, faster, and so on!
With technology and business models changing rapidly, embracing a growth mindset is vital to career success. Workers will need to continuously learn new skills to remain competitive as automation technologies, including artificial intelligence, become more prevalent. According to a report by McKinsey, up to 375 million workers worldwide will need to change roles or learn new skills by 2030. Research shows that your mindset predicts achievement.
