Welcome to the team, Nick

Welcome to our newest PX Connector, Nicholas!

We are thrilled to introduce our newest team member, Nick, who joins us as the Business Unit Manager – Engineering. With over 8 years of experience as a go-getter recruiter, Nick brings a unique skillset and a wealth of knowledge to our Australian office.

Raised in Queensland, Nick is a through-and-through maroon’s man. This obviously means Nick has an unwavering loyalty to the Brisbane Broncos, but it also means that Nick brings with him an invaluable portfolio of knowledge, expertise, and extensive connexions in the Queensland market.

Nick’s journey in the professional world started in Sales and Marketing, which instilled in him the go-getter attitude he has today. However, it was his transition into the realm of engineering recruitment that truly ignited his passion. Nick recognised the tangible benefits that a recruiter can achieve by sourcing and placing talent in key pipeline initiatives and projects that are shaping our state. From this passion, Nick founded his own Engineering Recruitment business, Mechtech, and successfully ran operations there for nearly 4 years, specialising in Rail, Mining, Oil & Gas and Civil Infrastructure.

What truly excites Nick is the ability to look back and see how his contributions have played a significant role in the production of multi-million-dollar projects. It’s this thrill and sense of accomplishment that continuously drives him in the engineering space.

Nick is eager to dive into our Queensland market, as this is an exciting time for the nation, not just because of the upcoming 2032 Olympic Games in the metro area, but also due to the rapid growth of the regions. The connection and development of places like Ipswich and Gatton, and the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane, is quickly transforming these areas into thriving hubs. Nick is particularly enthusiastic about the massive infrastructure projects in the current and upcoming pipeline, particularly focusing on the rail space which will revolutionize our transport infrastucture.

For Nick, joining Peopleconnexion represents an exciting opportunity in his career. It’s a chance for him to leverage his strengths in business management and drive growth within our Brisbane team, forging even greater connexions across our Sunshine State and wider Australia! With his skills and expertise, we have no doubt that Nick will make a significant impact on our candidates, clients, contractors, and the wider PX community.

We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Nick to our team. We look forward to his fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and valuable contributions he will bring to our organisation.

To conclude our introduction, here are three fun facts about Nick:

  1. His unwavering loyalty to the Broncos has seen him a club member for 8 years
  2. Nick lived in California, USA for one year. One of his best take-away stories is cracking a cold one with Dennis Rodman, arguably the best rebounding forward in NBA history.
  3. Nick not only thrives in the fast lane of recruitment but on the pavement too – his most recent running achievement was last year’s Gold Coast Marathon (2022).

We also asked Nick what his one piece of advice is when it comes to being a good consultant and this is what he shared:

“Have a plan for each day. There is no such thing as a stupid question and always be yourself”.

We hope you’ll join us in welcoming Nick to PX. Head over and Connect with him here: Nicholas Connolly
