Brisbane ? The perfect combination of City & Country
As more and more people are deciding to relocate from Major cities like Sydney and Melbourne, I wanted to share with you what my experience has been like making the move to Brisbane.
Originally, I grew up in a country town in the UK and decided to move to London to experience the city life. Like many former Londonites I chose to exchange the cold, unpredictable weather and super-fast paced style of living for the pristine beaches of Australia and everything that Sydney had to offer back in 2015.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Sydney, although after a few years the hustle and bustle of the city soon shaped itself into a mini London. I have always enjoyed the country way of living and that would be the best way I could explain my most recent move to Brisbane, you have the best of both worlds.
First and foremost; in Brisbane I?m paying half the rent, for a house that’s three times the size, with outdoor space, all whilst being located twice as close to the CBD!!
If you are looking to buy a home, Brisbane’s median house price is $577,664 in comparison to $1,142,212 in Sydney and $901,951 in Melbourne. Home buyers are positioned with an extremely attractive opportunity in Brisbane as you can get a lot more in return for your investment and enter the market at a fraction of the cost.
The Brisbane housing market is also projected to grow by a further 8% this year, Brisbane has completely rebranded itself in recent years and is fast becoming one of Australia’s new top cities. Entertainment hubs such as the Howard Smith Wharfs and the upcoming Queens Wharf and Brisbane Live entertainment center are creating a new atmosphere around the city.
Brisbane also has some monumental infrastructure projects on the horizon, including cross river rail and Brisbane metro. The transport projects are going to be able to support the growing population and make commuting in the city far more efficient. I already find the south east bus way in Brisbane fantastic, and much faster than what I was experiencing in Sydney, my commute has become so much more enjoyable and it makes a difference.
I like to consider myself a bit of an adventurer and being so close to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, the opportunity to get in the car and drive an hour to a holiday destination is exactly what I?m about. I have found that I am far more active and I?m getting out and doing so much more. It is so much easier to maintain a healthy work / life balance in Brisbane and that is something that I always push my candidates to consider when making their decisions.
Before all though, my favorite part of living in Brisbane is the people. The lifestyle in Brisbane is far more peaceful and it rubs off on everyone, you can take a moment to say hello, smile and acknowledge one another. In the big cities, this doesn’t happen!
In my opinion, relocating to Brisbane has been like a move back to the country from Sydney, yet I still have everything that I like about a city at my disposal as well. I would highly recommend the move to anyone considering it, I know I have made the right decision.
