The winning consortia set to undertake Brisbane’s most awaited rail project have finally been announced.

This morning, the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority announced the list of contractors who will be undertaking the Rail Integration and Systems, and Tunnel, Stations and Development packages for the $5.4 billion project.

Rail Integration and Systems Alliance: Unity Alliance (Jacobs, AECOM, UGL, CPB and partners HASSEL, RCS Australia, Acemna, Martinus Rail and Wired Overhead Solutions)

Tunnel, Stations and Development PPP: Pulse (Jacobs, AECOM, CIMIC, UGL, CPB, Ghella, DIF and Bam)

The project is being split into two packages: The Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) alliance and the Tunnel, Stations and Development (TSD) PPP, requiring a wide array of technical expertise from civil backgrounds.

The RIS alliance will focus on surface works and integration with Queensland Rail’s ETCS (European Train Control System), whereas the expertise required for the TSD PPP is centred around the construction of 5.9km of tunnel and station caverns under the Brisbane River and CBD.

The European Train Control System (ETCS) will be delivered by Hitachi Rail STS.

Contractors are now expected to begin “site presence” later this year.
