Peopleconnexion has made its first payment using Digicel’s new online payment product – CellMoni.
What is CellMoni?
CellMoni is a service offered by Digicel that allows Customers to receive, store, and spend money using their Digicel mobile phone. It is electronic money that turns a mobile phone (cellphone) into a mobile wallet. Digicel mobile subscribers can easily and conveniently make payments just by using their cellphone.
Why is Peopleconnexion Payroll using CellMoni?
In PNG there are significant barriers that prevent citizens from accessing financial services, banking products, and cash. CellMoni is one system that can address some of these barriers, as it is a more flexible means to pay Peopleconnexion Contractors than a traditional bank transfer.
It is a reliable platform, easy to use, and an economical way for the PNG workforce to manage their money. Payment into a CellMoni wallet doesn’t require someone to set up a bank account, so it means an employee can easily and quickly access the money they’ve earnt. This technology is another step forward to improving the financial equality and access for all Papua New Guineans, so we are excited to be trialing it!
