We are incredibly excited to introduce and welcome our newest Connector, Ella!
This week Ella stepped into the Australian Country Manager position to oversee Peopleconnexion Recruitment’s Australian operations, and we couldn’t be more humbled to welcome her to our team.
Ella brings with her a vast amount of experience, with over 28 years in the recruitment industry and even some varied previous professions – as a registered adult nurse and police officer in the UK!
Ella’s experience comes with a diverse amount of cross-cultural competency and expertise. Her experience has seen her head up a variety of international recruitment consultancies across 5 continents.
Ella started her consultancy career in Birmingham in the UK with a large corporate global workforce solutions business. She then moved to Australia in 2000 to head up their NSW arm of the business as the NSW State Manager for 2 years before being promoted to the Sunshine State, becoming the State Manger for Queensland. Having fell in love with Brisbane we’re not surprised to hear that this is where she chose to spend the largest portion of her career.
Ella has also had the experience as the Managing Director in Malaysia, Middle East and Asia Pacific, and COO in America and EMEA.
From such a cultured experience, we had to ask Ella what one of her fondest memories has been throughout her time in recruitment:
“What comes to mind first was being promoted to the Managing Director for Malaysia. Over a three-year period, I had the honor to develop and support a tremendous team to successfully triple the size of the business through growth in new business, existing major accounts and streamlining efficiencies”.
We also took the opportunity to ask Ella what was one of her greatest challenges at this point during in her career:
“When I first started working in international markets, I had to learn the differences in undertaking business in culturally different markets. Including, how to work within culturally different markets. Not only is business conducted differently based on the culture you are working in, but you also have to ensure your management style adapts to meet the cultural nuances of the team. My first international secondment was a steep learning curve, as a new Managing Director at the age of 35 and having not had such exposure previously”.
One of Ella’s guiding mantra’s is from Jack Canfield, “You have to take 100% accountability for your life”. She is also about be humble in everything you do, so while sharing her successes with us, it did not come natural for her.
“I see myself as a facilitator to empower others to be successful – success is not about me as the leader, it’s the people and teams that makes it happen.”
“Also as the world of work is ever evolving, I am really passionate about helping clients to navigate the continuous changing dynamics to help them to continue to build successful businesses through sourcing the right people and talent solutions.”
Having spent her longest duration of her career in Queensland, Ella is well placed to continue her journey with PX, as we embark on our own journey of growth in 2023!
To conclude our introduction, of course we have to give you 3 fun facts about Ella.
- She loves half triathlons. Make no mistake, she doesn’t love marathons, because running isn’t her favourite, however, swimming is. Luckily our Recruitment Consultant, @Charlotte Edwards is preparing to run a half-marathon this year so there’s the running part covered!
- With Ella it’s not all strictly business – it’s strictly ballroom! Ella loves her ballroom dancing.
- All aboard! Ella has her powerboat license and as she lives out by the bay, and she loves to be out on the water given any opportunity.
We look forward to having Ella on the team and leading our Australian operations as we prepare for some exciting activity on the horizon with the State preparing for the 2033 Olympic Games and many other major infrastructure projects.
